The Northeast Arc helps people with disabilities become full participants in the community; choosing for themselves how to live, learn, work, socialize and play.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Researches best practices in order to provide 1:1 education and training in areas of community living to adults.  Designs a plan to address specific areas of needs and interests.
  • Provides education and instruction to support the clinical and social needs of the individuals receiving services.
  • Teaches independent living, apartment management, and home safety skills.
  • Develops individual financial plans to assist person in daily budgeting and banking.
  • Educates food shopping, menu planning and cooking skills.
  • Identifies community resources and assists in facilitating community connections.
  • Demonstrates social skills and promotes self-determination.
  • Mediates and assists in resolving roommate concerns and issues as needed.
  • Provides hands-on assistance, if needed, with personal care.
  • Meets deadlines for record keeping and data progress reports and other case management documentation. 
  • Serves as a role model and mentor.
  • Reports critical issues to immediate supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Establishes criteria to achieve a high level of service delivery.
  • Completes documentation, incident reporting and other necessary documents in accordance with Northeast Arc Policy and Procedure’s.
  • Other duties and special projects as assigned.

  • BA/BS degree in Education and 1-2 years of experience working with adults who are developmentally disabled
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.  Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of variety of devices and applications that is internet based. 
  • Ability to make sound clinical decisions and appropriate interventions. 
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products with a proficiency in Excel.  Ability to utilize technology to design systems.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to maintain certifications as required in Northeast Arc Policy and Procedures, including but not exclusive to: First Aid, CPR, MAPs, Vehicle Safety, Human Rights and Fire Safety.  
  • Must have a valid MA drivers license
  • Physical ability to lift, pull and push up to 50 lbs required.
